She was commenting on the deal on purchasing the shares of Georgia’s Petrocas Energy International company by Russian Rosneft company.

The company’s controlling stake (51 percent) is owned by Russian billionaire of Georgian origin David Yakobashvili.

The foreign minister said Georgian government continues watching the process of implementation of the deal, as well as the Poti port where the Petrocas Energy International is carrying out its activities.

Beruchashvili said the Poti port is of strategic importance and Georgian government will ensure full transparency in its operation.

“As far as I know, currently, the law on the occupied territories is not violated, since Rosneft doesn’t operate in Georgia’s territory,” she said. “This issue is being studied by the country’s Foreign Ministry and Economy Ministry.”

Petrocas Energy International and Rosneft intend to create a joint company, according to the preliminary data.
